Falls Creek’s youth camp programming provides a powerful spiritual experience. Sarah Wooten, Falls Creek program associate, said this spiritual experience happens because of three things: the untold number of prayers God receives about Falls Creek throughout each year, intense preparation given to the programming, and Falls Creek’s rural location.

“I think God does some incredible things in people’s lives with distractions being removed,” Wooten said. “The continual presentation of the Gospel in every aspect of camp life, I think, allows students the opportunity to see the Gospel in all areas of their life.”

Wooten helps facilitate events to equip youth ministry leaders and volunteers to reach students across the state. She knows firsthand the impact Falls Creek can have on a teen.

She went to youth camp at Falls Creek for the first time the summer after she completed seventh grade. She made a profession of faith in Christ the summer before her junior year of high school and was called to full-time Christian service the summer after her senior year of high school.

Wooten took teens to Falls Creek for six years when she worked with youth at Oklahoma City, Village. She’s been involved in youth ministry almost 20 years.

“I’m one of five kids and have six nieces and nephews – ages 2 to 14 – all in Oklahoma City, so I’m big into the aunt life,” Wooten said. “We’re always together, doing games, going to the zoo, just time together.”

She remains close to the Lord through prayer and daily time in God’s word. Wooten said, “I have some great friends who are fun but also great accountability partners. They push me.

Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.

“I think 2020 for me (was) a year of refocus on God’s faithfulness,” Wooten continued. “He is God, and He is in control. I have to set aside my desire to be in control and rest in His control.”
