Logan Key is the church planter and lead pastor of Refuge Church, which launched in January 2022. The church is portable and meets at Riverwood Elementary School in Mustang. They set up and tear down everything every week.

“Being portable can be a challenge because of all the work that goes into transforming an elementary school gymnasium into a worship space,” Logan said. “Thankfully, we have a great team of volunteers who do an outstanding job of spearheading that and making it all go smoothly.”

Though it takes effort to keep that going week after week, the Keys think that seeing people make decisions to follow Jesus, who in turn changes their lives, makes the effort worthwhile.

“It’s always exciting to see people grow,” Logan said. “For some, it’s coming to faith. For others, it’s being baptized, and for still others, it is leading a group or serving on a team. I enjoy seeing people take the next step in their faith journey.”

People in today’s world are so busy with sports, hobbies and family or recreational activities that they don’t take time to get connected with a church body. Add to that the fact that many people think being a “good and moral” person is good enough, so they don’t need a Savior, and it would be easy for a church planter to lose heart. But Logan knows that his job is to be obedient to what God has called him to do, and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

Pray God would continue to grow Refuge Church both spiritually and numerically. Pray more lives would be changed by the transforming power of the Gospel. Pray also for the leadership team of Refuge Church as they serve tirelessly.
