Greetings!

I have some exciting topics to share this week. Thanks for reading!

By the way, I will be taking some time off next week, so no DHD until July. Maybe I’ll give a recap of my adventure.

  1. Falls Creek staff leads a livestream follower to Christ

Todd Sanders, program director for the youth weeks at Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center, shared some awesome news in an email last night. If you are not familiar with Falls Creek, well, you should be!

God has impacted thousands upon thousands (basically, more than humanly possible to count) of students and adults on Falls Creek grounds for more than 100 years. And Todd shared in his email that what is happening at Falls Creek goes beyond the Arbuckle Mountains. Every night the evening services at Falls Creek are livestreamed through live.oklahomabaptists.org, Todd reported that a Falls Creek media staff member, named Rosie, led a viewer to make a profession of faith in Christ. Here’s the transcript of the chat:

Viewer: I’m not at church camp. But I think tonight is the night I gave me life to Jesus.

Falls Creek Media Host: That’s awesome! So glad to hear it. Would you like me to guide you through the process on here?

Viewer: Yes please

Falls Creek Media Host: First of all, do you admit that you are a sinner and in need of God’s saving grace, and believe that He died on the cross to save us?

Viewer: Yes

Falls Creek Media Host: Awesome! the Bible says in Romans 10 that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that He raised us from the dead, then we will be saved. And ALL who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved! Say a prayer to God that you A. admit that you are a sinner, B. believe that Jesus died for our sins, and C. confess that He is Lord of all and ask Him to become Lord of your life!

Viewer: Thank you so much! I will do that

Falls Creek Media Host: Awesome! If you need any guidance or resources at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out! We are beyond thrilled that tonight is the night that you have entered into the kingdom of God!!

Falls Creek Media Host: Do you have any other questions right now?

Viewer: No. That was all I needed. Thank you so much for the help!

Falls Creek Media Host: You’re welcome! You will be in my prayers. :)

Viewer: Thank you!

Isn’t that awesome? I’m so thankful for the awesome ministry of Falls Creek!

  1. I’m now a big fan of Jordy Bahl

There’s something special about the University of Oklahoma softball team. The Baptist Messenger shared an article about Coach Patty Gasso focusing on winning souls more than games. Now check out the Sooners pitching phenom Jordy Bahl sharing a powerful message from Scripture at the press conference after winning the Women’s College World Series.

Bahl is only a freshman, but she confidently shared Christ with a room full of media members. That’s a powerful moment.

  1. DeYoung on Christianity and Politics

I am having a hard time with the political spectrum. I’m not wavering on my views on issues. I’m pretty solid in that perspective, but talking about politics is challenging. The climate is quite toxic.

Check out what Kevin DeYoung has to say in his article “How to think about Christianity and politics.”

  1. My friend Buck talks about Juneteenth

Buck Burch and I went to college together. He is a few years older, but we were dorm mates my freshman year, and Buck was always fun to hang around.

Now, Buck is working for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and has written a great column relating to the upcoming newly-founded holiday of Juneteenth. Check it out, it’s a great read:

  1. Thunder thoughts

As I said in my opening, I will be on vacation next week, and I will miss the NBA Draft next Thursday night. I definitely have an interest and much curiosity on what the Oklahoma City Thunder will be doing while the Draft is happening. Sam Presti always seems to do something unexpected, and I predict the unexpected will happen again.

The Thunder have the second pick of the draft, and it is a common perception that Chet Holmgren will be the Thunder’s selection. Holmgren is growing on me. The more I read the more he becomes appealing. I’ve shared before that Duke’s Paolo Banchero is my personal favorite, but I’m not going to be disappointed because I trust Sam more than my personal preferences.

But along with the second pick, the Thunder get the 12th pick, and they traded off the 30th pick earlier this week. I don’t think the Thunder are done with picks. Another move is almost guaranteed. But we will see!

  1. New favorite song

I’m not too familiar with Christian artist Cody Carnes, but I first heard his song “Firm Foundation” when I attended Men’s Rewired in April. This song is so encouraging. I’ve heard it a few times on Air1. If you haven’t heard it, check it out below, and see if it encourages you as much as it did me.
