Jimmy Glock is a collegiate missionary working with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) at the University of Oklahoma. His focus is on campus evangelism, discipleship of students, missions mobilization and equipping students to go out and do the same. Jimmy finds great joy in seeing his efforts reach fruition.

“I love seeing students become effective laborers for the harvest,” he said. “I had been discipling a student named Jacob for nearly three years. I was really excited to enter our lobby and see him sharing the Gospel with one of the freshmen in his Air Force ROTC unit.”

Seeing students living their lives on mission is an especially exciting thing as most students, like many adults, typically seek the things offered by the world, such as comfort, money and success. There is also a culture of busyness, stress and other distractions that make it difficult for leaders and students alike to abide in Christ. Mark 4:19 records the words of Jesus in the telling of the Parable of the Soils. “… but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

Jimmy understands the importance of prayer to his life and his ministry. His prayer request is that he would experience peace in trusting God to provide for him as he gives up his desire for control (Matt. 6:33-34). Pray God would help Jimmy abide in Him and work from that (John 15:5) and that God would help Jimmy become skilled in ministry and reveal daily what the focus of his ministry should be (Eccl. 10:10).
