Todd Sanders’ main responsibilities in his job as student ministry specialist for Oklahoma Baptists take place just a few miles from where he grew up. As program director for Falls Creek Youth Camp, he’s just a stone’s throw from Davis, the place he considers to be his hometown.

“I lived in several places due to my dad’s work, but moved to Davis when I was in the fifth grade,” Sanders said. “It was there that a friend invited me to church, and through my experience with Davis, First over several years, I placed my faith in Christ when I was 15 years old.”

Sanders said shortly after giving his life to Christ, he said yes to a calling to ministry. Since that time, he served on local church staffs for 20 years and joined the Oklahoma Baptists staff in 2008, becoming Falls Creek program director in 2019.

While his main responsibility is to direct the program for Falls Creek youth camp each summer, he also assists churches in youth ministry efforts, specifically focused on discipleship, education, Sunday School, small groups and leadership development.

“Through its diverse approach, Falls Creek Youth Camp serves to reach the lost, develop believers, make disciples, mobilize students and strengthen the church,” Sanders explained. “Plus, it is a great time of community, fun and memories.”

Sanders revealed that, for this summer, students will focus on spiritual disciplines in the life of a believer through worship, Gospel preaching and invitation, and they will have many spiritual growth opportunities and activities and a whole lot of fun.

“Students will explore the truth from Col. 2:6-7 that, in Christ, we are saved, set apart, solid and surrendered,” he said.

For this year’s Falls Creek camp sessions, musicians and speakers are:

“I have been called to equip the church and encourage believers,” Sanders said. “I have found, over and over, in almost 30 years of ministry, opportunities to do that in, through and for the local body. My work on staff with Oklahoma Baptists continues to provide those opportunities as well as connect me with godly people and amazing leaders across our state. The partnership we enjoy as Oklahoma Baptists is truly a gift from the Lord. It is a privilege to advance the Gospel together.”

Sanders has been married to his wife, Angela (a partner in ministry, Christian curriculum developer and freelance writer/author) for 29 years. Their grown children, Hope and Hunter (and Hunter’s wife Mackenzie) live and work in Oklahoma City.

Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
