OWASSO—Baptist Village Communities (BVC) is thrilled to announce the completion of its newest “exciting addition,” The Thompson Family Neighborhood at Baptist Village of Owasso.

The innovative, 10,000-square-foot neighborhood offers services for those facing Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-related challenges. The new neighborhood is located west of Liberty Place Assisted Living and includes 16 single occupancy or double occupancy apartment homes.

Baptist Village of Owasso is one of five BVC campuses to offer memory support services. Owasso is a L.I.F.E.® Network community, offering many levels of service.
“The Thompson Family Neighborhood is now open. Praise the Lord!” exclaimed Bill Pierce, president of Baptist Village Communities. “There are many who have made this new ministry a large part of their life and work over many days, months and years. Thank you and congratulations to all who made this possible.

“I am grateful to the family that made this ministry possible—the Thompson family,” Pierce continued. “Members of this family own and operate Wynn Construction, and not only did they provide the extremely generous gift to build the building, they also actually did build the building. That results in a labor of love.”

The Thompson Family Neighborhood offers a wide array of features and amenities. These include an open concept design, inviting living areas, family-style dining and made-to-order breakfast—all in a secure environment.

“Memory support is something that we have needed to add to the other services that we are able to provide at Baptist Village of Owasso,” said Mitzi Epperson, associate campus director—health services administrator. “Because of the generous gift from the Thompson family, we are now blessed to see it come to fruition. We all have had a heart for those who need memory support. To have a living environment with comfort, safety and attentive, focused services is truly a blessing to my heart.”

One of the most impressive features of the neighborhood is the Abbott Family Snoezelen® Room. This room provides an incredible multi-sensory environment and offers a relaxed atmosphere with pleasant surroundings, calming sounds, soothing aromas, lighting effects and more. The Snoezelen® Room also provides opportunities for interaction and engagement. In addition, the room doubles as a storm gathering place, providing residents and families with peace of mind during inclement weather.
Baptist Village of Owasso is one of five BVC campuses to be a Music & Memory® certified community. Through this wonderful resource, residents and families have access to the transformative, therapeutic benefits of personalized music. It provides participants with listening devices, complete with customized music.

Baptist Village Communities continues to lead the way in shaping the future of aging services. The Thompson Family Neighborhood is a continuation of BVC’s mission.
Pierce concluded, “We are blessed. God did it. And now, we will all ‘Enhance Lives by Serving God, Serving You, Serving Together.’”
