Buddy Hunt is a regional ministry partner for Oklahoma Baptists, serving pastors and churches in eastern Oklahoma as they work to advance the Gospel. His region includes 410 churches affiliated with Oklahoma Baptist associations and 40 Native American churches in areas ranging from Durant to McAlester to Vinita. He encourages pastors and aids them in their health and wellness.
Buddy also assists churches in the event of conflict and with church revitalization. He serves churches by helping with discipleship, deacon training and evangelism and by serving as a transitional pastor as needed. He is particularly blessed to help churches find God’s man to serve as their pastor and to encourage pastors and their families.
Buddy knows that the ministry of a pastor is difficult and, sadly, often thankless. Pastoral ministry involves the whole family. One way Buddy and his wife, Michelle, encourage pastors and their families is by leading retreats for pastors and their wives. Buddy shared about the great time of fellowship these retreats provide.
“My wife and I lead retreats for pastors and their wives, which serve as a time of refreshment and encouragement,” he said. “One wife told me it was good to see her husband laugh again and have a good time because it had been a long time. Others have told us it was the best week of their lives in recent memory.”
Buddy and Michell live in Muldrow. They have two daughters, one son-in-law and three granddaughters.
Pray Buddy will be safe as he drives 1,000 miles per week and pray for the health and wellbeing of the Hunt family. Buddy asks to pray he would always be open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Pray also that churches and individuals will continue to give generously to the Cooperative Program so ministries like Buddy Hunt’s can continue to support churches, pastors and their families.
Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
