PERSPECTIVE: Answer the call

During the presidential election, there was a commercial for one candidate that showed a phone and asked the question, “When the president’s phone rings in the middle of the night, who do you want to answer?” Be assured it is a call that demands action.

Oklahoma Baptists—the phone is ringing! God is calling us to action. The Edna McMillan State Missions Offering is an opportunity for us to rise to the occasion, answer the phone, and take demonstrative action that will make a difference for eternity. Together, we can become a powerful force for good and the Kingdom.

Because of your sacrificial giving, people in crisis can be touched with the love of Christ through chaplaincy ministry. Whether it’s in a hospital, an oilfield or a prison, chaplains are able to extend a message of forgiveness and hope.

Church planting is one of the biggest recipients of your State Mission Offering dollars. Church planters answer the call to action whether they are planting a multi-ethnic church or in an area of our state where there is a need for a new congregation.

When natural disasters strike, Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers respond to the call by serving victims in the name of Christ. Whether it’s a fire, tornado or flood, your gifts to the State Missions Offering provide the financial means for giving immediate help.

When young people hear the call of God to a lifetime of action in full time ministry, they need guidance and opportunities to refine the call God has placed on their lives. Because you give, “The Call Conference” was created to help these individuals take the next step.

God is calling. How will you respond? Please give generously this season to the Edna McMillan Oklahoma State Missions Offering. More than 20 ministries are waiting on you to answer the Call to Action.
