Over the Fourth of July weekend, flash floods devastated areas of Texas, including Kerr County, Texas. The reported death toll tragically has risen to more than 90 lives lost, including children, in the flash flooding,
In response to this catastrophe, Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) volunteers will be helping in the aftermath of the flooding. A recovery and mud-out team will soon be serving the San Saba community.
Jason Yarbrough, state director of Oklahoma Baptist DR said, “Texas Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers have been on the ground serving meals to first responders and others in response to the devastating flood waters in Central Texas. They have also been busy, assessing damage and coordinating a full response to help those affected.”
He added, “Oklahoma Disaster Relief mud out/flood recovery teams have been requested to come assist in the relief efforts. The first team will be leaving Tuesday, and we have teams building to go and serve over the next several weeks. We will begin helping in the community of San Saba and then be ready to move and help wherever we are needed.”
Oklahoma Baptist DR requests continued prayers for all those affected by the devastating floods and for the response teams as they seek to bring hope and help in this tragic situation.
