Pray for Oklahoma Baptists who are serving with the International Mission Board (IMB) in Central and South America and in the Caribbean Islands where in a population of 669 million 10,297 are dying daily without Christ, despite their rich heritage of missions.

More than 1,000 people groups live in the Americas, each with its own culture, language and identity. Of these distinct people groups, 338 have little to no evangelical influence. Most of the American Peoples are steeped in religion, but 90 percent do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Oklahoma Baptist missionaries are working hard to change this.

They share the gospel in large cities, jungles, and remote villages where primitive tribes live. They share the gospel in dangerous slums where shootings and drug-related crimes are the norm. They show the love of God by meeting medical needs and providing food and clothing. They come alongside as friends and servants.

Sometimes missionaries are forbidden to enter certain villages, but the seeds they planted among the indigenous people are growing into strong faith—despite persecution—and the Gospel continues to spread. In fact, it seems the more severe the persecution, the stronger faith becomes and the more it spreads. God’s perfect love casts out fear.

Every year, more are hearing the Gospel and putting their faith in Christ. Churches are being planted, and leaders are being trained. Needs are being met, and God’s kingdom is growing. Missionaries can’t do this alone. They need prayers and support.

Pray God would continue to provide for the personal and ministry needs of these missionaries. Pray the Lord would open doors that may have previously been closed. Pray the efforts of the enemy would be thwarted at every turn and that the efforts of missionaries and indigenous believers in the many countries of the Americas would produce fruit that advances the kingdom of God.

Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
