Brandon Allen and his wife, Jennifer, serve as the Baptist Collegiate Ministry directors at Western Oklahoma State College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Sayre. They also lead the college and young adult ministry at their home church in Altus, Martha Road Baptist Church. They minister to seniors in high school, college-aged students, and young adults in the workforce. The Allens feel honored to disciple this group of people who are the future of the Church.

“We get to work with and build up an incredibly important age group of people who are responsible for growing the body of Christ,” Brandon said. “The most rewarding thing about this ministry is watching their sparks catch everything around them ablaze. We are big on discipleship and the process of multiplication. Watching these young adults go out and present the Gospel in their daily lives is so rewarding to watch.”

As one can imagine, students and young adults have busy and varying schedules, and establishing dates and times for the majority to meet is a big challenge. The Allens have found success by partnering with churches in Southwest Association who provide and serve meals during weekly Bible study and discipleship groups. This strategy has proven to be effective as Brandon and Jennifer have seen young adults grow in their faith and share the Gospel.

“We have a small group of aviation students who attend weekly,” Brandon said. “Watching them take the initiative to start their own on-campus Bible study for their fellow classmates and sharing the Gospel with unbelievers in their class was a proud moment.”

Still, the Allens and students across Oklahoma need prayer. Being a young adult in the world today is especially challenging. Many struggle with their identity, as far as who they are to God versus who they are in the world. Pray the Allens and campus missionaries all over the state would be able to guide them on the correct path to the One who gives life—Jesus.

Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
