SHAWNEE—The Call conference is an annual event designed for those who are interested in exploring or are pursuing a call from God to ministry leadership. This event is hosted by Oklahoma Baptists and will be held at the Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) campus in Shawnee on Aug. 29.
The Call asks the foundational question to anyone pursuing ministry, “Is God calling you?” God is calling the next generation of ministry leaders, and The Call Conference is designed to help students decide if they are being called to ministry and provides the tools they and to work through the process of pursuit and calling.
Middle school and high school students are encouraged to attend. The Call Conference will also serve to encourage and train parents and leaders in churches to mentor those pursuing ministry leadership positions.
“The Call Conference continues the long legacy of Oklahoma Baptists quipping new generations of ministry leadership,” said Oklahoma Baptists Youth Ministry Director Todd Sanders. “What a blessing and privilege to partner to develop these students in this way. It is a testament to our commitment of local churches across the state to advance the Gospel generationally.”
Registration on-site will open at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 29 at OBU. Throughout the day, there will be two general sessions, a ministry panel and two topic-oriented breakout sessions focusing on the theology behind calling and ministry. Topics for these sessions include Sanctification & Personal Holiness, Spiritual Formation, Making Disciples, The Church Pastoral Ministry, Missiology and more. This year’s conference also offers a mission track and lunch as well as an adult leader session that will highlight leading those who are called and how short-term missions can impact your youth ministry.
As a partnership between Oklahoma Baptists and OBU and supported by the Cooperative Program, The Call Conference was developed for individuals who are exploring or pursuing a call from God to ministry leadership. The conference is promoted at Falls Creek and other ministry settings. It operates on a three-year rotation of topics with next year’s conference focusing on specific ministry areas.
