In the modern day, technology can be used to advance the Gospel in ways not possible before. Setting up equipment and websites can be understandably daunting. That’s why Oklahoma Baptists are proud to host four Church Technology Conferences around the state between Oct. 5-20.

The purpose of these events is to equip churches with practical training and resources around the questions that we receive most often. Topics will include audio, video, presentation software, livestreaming, websites and general technology best practices.

“One of the top requests we get from our churches, especially those that are smaller in attendance, is for help related to the use of technology in the church,” said Todd Fisher, Oklahoma Baptists Executive Director-Treasurer. “These requests typically center on help with live-streaming, websites, and improving audio-visual capability. Many of our churches cannot afford to hire someone to help them in these areas.”

The areas of sound, live streaming and web/social media will be discussed during the three main segments by a panel of industry professionals from Oklahoma Baptists and other technology firms. After each segment, attendees will be able to submit questions and give input on what the largest needs among these three areas are.

One of the scheduled speakers is Blake Shelton, owner and founder of Blake’s AV Solutions, a professional AVL rental and integration company. Shelton’s roots in audio began in the church. The son of a longtime music minister, he grew up in a small Oklahoma Baptist church where audio resources were limited and nearly everything was analog. That environment taught him early on how to get the most out of the equipment and resources available and gave him an understanding of the unique challenges that smaller churches and volunteer production teams face.

There is no cost to attend these events and dinner will be provided, but registration is required. The locations and dates of these conferences are as follows:

Oct. 19 — Evergreen, Bixby

Oct. 20 — Durant, First
