On Thursday, May 1, churches across the nation will gather to celebrate the 2025 National Day of Prayer. This annual event takes place on the first Thursday of May and asks people to turn to God in prayer.

The theme for this year is “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” which is based on Romans 15:13, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

A public event will be held at the Oklahoma State Capitol this year at the Capitol’s 2nd Floor Rotunda. The two-hour program will consist of intercessory prayer for the State of Oklahoma and the nation by the state legislators and others that work in the Capital area.

There will be a theater seating setup for individuals and round tables will be available for groups to gather and pray.

In addition to local gatherings, there will be a nationally televised and streamed broadcast beginning at 7 PM CT. The broadcast will act as a virtual space for believers across America and across the world to gather in prayer and worship.

It will be hosted by National Day of Prayer president Kathy Branzell and Co-Hosted by Tim Tebow. The broadcast can be viewed online here.

“The hope promised by God, of resurrection and eternal life…must spill over and burst for into our every day,” said Branzell. “We are not helpless and hopeless. We are flourishing and fruitful forever in the hands and heart of God.”
