DAVIS—Both Falls Creek Youth Camp and CrossTimbersChildren’s Mission Adventure Camp in Davis have finished their summer sessions. It was a summer of Gospel advance, mission, community, growth and life change.

Falls Creek

Each week since 1917, Falls Creek Youth Camp has offered opportunities for campers to hear and respond to the Gospel, participate in fun activities, connect with other churches, participate within other churches, and grow to become more like Jesus.

The Falls Creek grounds hold great memories and reflection of deep conversations, authentic commitments, Gospel advance and meaningful service. Each place carries a reminder that God can move anywhere, the invitation to respond to the Gospel is never closed, and every staff area is a Gospel moment waiting to happen. One young lady this summer even gave her life to Christ as a friend shared the Gospel on Friday night after the final worship service of the week.

God moved this summer. At the conclusion of the summer, in our services, 3,950 students made decisions for Christ. Decisions included 1,937 professions of Faith, 110 assurances of Salvation, 1,023 recommitments, 305 calls to ministry and 575 other decisions.

Todd Sanders, Falls Creek Program Director, reflected on the significance of this summer: “What a great opportunity! We must move ahead having tightened our grip on the Great Commission and move ahead equipped to share the Gospel. We are excited and anxious to hear all God will continue to do with this year as students and groups follow through in obedience to the commitments they have made. It’s hands up in worship, feet forward in mission, and crowns down in surrender.”

A summer of Falls Creek is always full of powerful stories of changed lives. Reports are continuing to roll in. One pastor relayed a story of a young lady who almost didn’t attend because of her open and active antagonism to the Gospel. God worked in her heart and in a Friday night service, she responded to the invitation. Another young man proclaimed faith in Christ and began to feel God’s calling on his life into vocational ministry. Sanders was able to speak to him and encourage him to pray and pursue this calling faithfully.

“God has been so good to let us witness the life changing work in students’ lives and in groups this summer,” he said.

Sanders is grateful we get to do this work together through prayer, the support of the local church, and the Cooperative Program. “These stories of life change wouldn’t be possible without the Lord and the unity and cooperation around the Gospel we enjoy as Oklahoma Baptists.”

Now it’s time to close this chapter on Falls Creek Youth Camp for another year and jump into all that the rest of the year holds in ministry and mission and prepare for another great summer at Falls Creek. It is going to be unbelievable.

CrossTimbers

CrossTimbers Mission Adventure Camp, for children grades three through six, provides thousands of kids with the opportunity to learn about the Gospel, about the importance of missions and discover who Christ is. This year 346 campers made a profession of faith and 136 made other spiritual decisions. The total attendance was 4,201.

For 2026, the theme of CrossTimbers was “I AM,” based on John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Offered by Oklahoma Baptists and supported through the Cooperative Program, CrossTimbers offers campers games, crafts and activities that highlight the Gospel. New to the campgrounds this summer is a new ropes course to compliment popular camp features, such as waterfront activities and target sports.

Each year, CrossTimbers sets up mission stops that highlight key mission areas. This year’s missions stops featured Oklahoma Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Montana Indian Ministry and International Mission Board missions in South Asia. According to Sarah Hagar, CrossTimbers Program Director, campers are especially enjoying the Montana missions stop where they learn about Montana Native Tribe cultures and how the Gospel is being shared with them.

“We had an amazing summer,” said Hagar. “Seeing kids learn about how God is at work around the world is so fun, but seeing God work in the lives of kids is even better!”

Following camp, one church adult sponsor said on social media, “Equally exhausted and full of joy! Kids Camp at CrossTimbers is always an adventure and full of truth about Jesus, so much fun and lots of opportunities for spiritual growth, strengthened relationships and making the best memories with our church! So thankful for the opportunity and for our hardworking and invested staff and volunteers! John 14:6 Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life!”

Hagar shared stories of life impact. “As one sponsor turned in a decision card to me, he said, ‘Do you know why this one is extra special?’ Then he said with a big smile, ‘This one is my son!’”

Hagar added, “We also had one camper so excited to come to camp that she started asking her friends if they knew Jesus on the way to camp. She led one of her friends to salvation before they even got to camp!”

CrossTimbers exists to support local church efforts to reach lost children by placing a high priority on Scripture, worship, relationships with staff and church sponsors and opportunities for campers, and sponsors, to sharpen their skills and prepare to consistently serve the Lord after camp.
