A Helpful Overview of the SBC…Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow!

My good friend, Jon Elliff, has written a concise and helpful article concerning SBC life.  In this article, he gives a brief history of who Southern Baptist’s are, where we have come from and where we are going!  The article is not exhaustive, but it is very helpful, especially in light of all the “chatter” going on concerning the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force (GCRTF).  I hope you will take the time to read this post and supply your comments and reflections concerning its contents.  I also hope you will join me in praying for the SBC; that God will bring awakening to His Church regarding our great privilege of being His witnesses in Jersalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

  • This is the best synopsis I have read of the SBC. As one who did not grow up Southern Baptist but is a product of an SBC seminary I can attest to its validity. Although I consider myself quite loyal to the denomination, I do believe theology has taken a backseat to pragmatism and economic principles in key areas, leaving… many unreached in its bureacratic blindspots. I pray the GCRTF will bring light (and resources) to those areas. My thoughts on one of those areas: http://wp.me/pqn1O-2k
