On Sept. 11, the 2025 Priority of Leadership Conference will be held at Oklahoma Baptist University’s (OBU) Geiger Center. Admission is free, but registration is required.
For years, Oklahoma Baptists have been placing an emphasis on preaching and its importance in the health of the church during the Priority of Preaching conferences. Now, added emphasis on pastoral leadership and administration is being included.
“This is a topic we are often asked about by our pastors that include questions related to knowing how to lead people in general, lead the church through change, respond to difficult people and circumstances at church, work committees, budgets, governing documents, etc.,” said Oklahoma Baptists Executive Director-Treasurer Todd Fisher in an email to pastors. “Many of these topics will be covered in the Priority of Leadership Conference, which we plan to have annually every fall.”
Jeff Iorg, president of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee will be the conference leader for the day. He is an author and an expert in the field of church and pastoral leadership. Veteran pastors and leaders Anthony Jordan, retired Oklahoma Baptists’ executive director-treasurer; Ted Kersh, retired Oklahoma pastor; and Michael Staton, pastor at Mustang, First will also share insights on the topic of leadership within the church. Additionally, there will be a Spanish speaking track of the conference available on site at OBU. Lunch will be provided.
“Pastor, I hope you will make the effort to be at this conference,” said Fisher. “I believe the day will give strong, biblical and practical help to pastors and leaders in every size church and every location.”
This conference is not just for senior pastors. Members of ministry staff, key leaders in churches or those called to ministry who want to learn more about leadership and administration within the church are invited as well.
