SAN SABA, Texas — Over the past few weeks Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) have been bringing help, hope and healing to those affected by flooding in San Saba, Texas. After completing work requests in the area, they will transition to the Kerrville area to help finish up the requests in that community.
While teams are there to help clean up the damage caused by the flood water, they have also had many opportunities to share the Gospel with flood victims. According to Jason Yarbrough, director of Oklahoma DR, there have been multiple professions of faith.
On Tuesday, a husband and wife both prayed and made confessions of Faith. The wife spoke no English, but God provided a way to overcome that language barrier in the team He built with the DR volunteer team from Oklahoma. Two weeks prior, an individual attended an online Zoom training offered by Yarbrough.
By completing this training and the necessary background check, this new volunteer was able to sign up and serve with the team this past week. She happens to be bilingual and was able to share the Gospel with the Spanish speaking homeowner.
“We say often that this is His ministry, and we get to be part of it,” said Yarbrough. “I am thankful to all those who listen to and obey the Lord’s direction.”
Out of state disaster relief response will most likely conclude in Texas next week, but Oklahoma DR is on standby to send teams to Ruidoso, N.M. next week in response to flooding in that community.
Oklahoma Baptist DR requests continued prayers for all those affected by the devastating floods and for the response teams as they seek to bring hope and help in this tragic situation.
