T’was the blog before Christmas and all through the house,

Not a computer was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stock images were stored in the shared drives with care

With the expectation that nary a blogger would need to be there.

The editorial staff were all smug in their heads

That no editorial work would be needed on this blog’s threads

And I at my keyboard, donning a thinking cap

Decided that this post would be my year’s blogging wrap

Then out of my head there arose ideas for some chatter

A blog post idea that might really matter

I opened a new Window, I flew like a flash

Tore into a blog-writing dash

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

My editor, his eyes all filled with fear

I knew in a moment what he must thinking

That I would slap-dash something that was a complete waste of inking

And he whistled and shouted and called out my name;

What punctuation? What syntax and grammar?

Edit away, edit away, edit away all!

I will work hard to make what you write look good

But I will have to proof it and shorten it and do all that I should.

With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head

Soon he gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And fixed all my typos, while not acting a jerk

While laying his finger on the work of my prose

And giving a nod, clicked upload and up my post rose

He sprang from his chair and without any hassle,

My post went live without having to wrastle!

And I heard him exclaimed, as he loaded the site

Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!

I want to thank the Messenger staff for all their hard work this year. It has been a pleasure working with you all. Merry Christmas!
