LEGACY OF SERVING: Abbotts Honored with BVC’s Highest Award - Baptist Messenger of Oklahoma

BVC President Bill Pierce, right, presents the Will and Nora Baskett Legacy of Love Award to Paul and Betty Abbott.

The award is named after Will and Nora Baskett, who helped establish the first Baptist Village in 1958. Their humble and generous sacrifices more than 60 years ago have resulted in amazing growth. BVC currently serves more than 2,300 people daily throughout Oklahoma.

Paul has served on the BVC Board of directors for many years, providing a wealth of knowledge and guidance. He also is a past chairperson of the Board. Betty has served on Baptist Village of Broken Arrow’s support team. Support teams consist of volunteers from local Southern Baptist churches that promote Baptist Village.

“Paul and Betty are great friends,” says Dr. Bill Pierce, BVC president. “They are humble servants of our Lord. I am very thankful that God called them to serve in the BVC ministry.”

Paul serves as chief executive officer of Covington Aircraft, an aircraft engine maintenance company. The Abbotts purchased the company more than 40 years ago and have seen it grow exponentially through their reliance on God.

Paul and Betty are faithful members of Broken Arrow, First. BVC recently honored them by naming Baptist Village of Owasso’s Snoezelen® room. The Abbott Snoezelen® Room, inside The Thompson Family Neighborhood, provides memory support residents with an incredible multi-sensory environment. It offers a relaxed atmosphere with calming sounds, light effects and more.

Baptist Village is honored to call Paul and Betty Abbott their good friends and is thankful for their generosity and legacy of service.
