Entity heads to address DOM meeting
INDIANAPOLIS (BP)--The presidents of three Southern Baptist Convention entities will speak at the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Directors of Missions' June 8-9 annual meeting in Indianapolis, featuring the theme "Growing the Kingdom, Church by Church."
The meeting, the organization's 46th, will begin with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Sheraton City Centre, with Jim Futral, executive director-treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, preaching. The service will be followed by a lunch at noon (meal ticket required) sponsored by GuideStone Financial Resources. At 1 p.m., the first of three sessions of the SBCADOM meeting will begin. Also at 1 p.m., the SBCADOM wives meeting will take place with the theme of "Joy In the Midst of It All."
The SBCADOM's first session will focus on the theme of "Growing Simple Churches." Thom S. Rainer, president of LifeWay Christian Recourses, will speak at 1:20 p.m., followed by Russell Cook, SBCADOM president and director of missions of the Pottawatomie Lincoln Baptist Association in Shawnee, Okla., delivering his president's address at 2:40 p.m.
The second session will start Sunday at 3:45 p.m. with the theme "Growing Confessional Churches." GuideStone Financial Resources President O.S. Hawkins will preach at 4:15 p.m.
The third session will begin Monday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. with the theme of "Growing Great Commission Churches." North American Mission Board President Geoff Hammond will preach at 11 a.m. on "Growing Churches in North America."
A DOM and wives luncheon at noon Monday, June 9, is sponsored by LifeWay Christian Recourses. Registration is required. A luncheon for retired associational workers also will be held at noon Monday, with registration also is required.
An orientation for new DOMs will take place Monday at 1 p.m. (registration required).
