Mission Advance Team begins meetings

The Mission Advance Team met for its first working session April 19-20 at the Baptist Building in Oklahoma City. They heard from various staff members representing every team which comprise the outreach of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.

The 23-member team was appointed by Anthony L. Jordan, executive director-treasurer, and approved by the BGCO Board of Directors Feb. 2.

The team’s mission is to develop a new strategic plan for the BGCO.

“This group is about local churches —not just the BGCO. That is precisely because the BGCO is focused on local churches and their needs, not simply their own work,” said Hance Dilbeck, chair. “Our state convention is working to remain vitally connected to the churches across this state. As we work together to improve our ministry in our life together, it is my hope that every Oklahoma Baptist congregation will prayerfully resolve to pursue unity, purity and a passion for reaching lost people in their community and around the world with the Good News of Jesus.”

The team includes Janice Berrong, Clinton; Dilbeck, Oklahoma City; Alton Fannin, Ardmore; Jeremy Freeman, Newcastle; Nick Garland, Broken Arrow; Blake Gideon, Inola; Tim Green, Seminole; Shane Hall, Lawton; Scott W. Hamilton, Hinton; Chad Kaminski, Allen; Doug King, Goodwell; Jason Langley, Mannford; Doug Melton, Oklahoma City; Johnny Montgomery, Red Oak; William Noel, Oklahoma City; Alfaro Orozco, Edmond; Brent Prentice, Stillwater; Doyle Pryor, Sapulpa; Carol Sallee, Bixby; James Wilder, Grove; Andy Wilkins, Enid, and Michael Williamson, Lawton. Also serving as ex-officio members are Jordan and BGCO President Emerson Falls, Oklahoma City.
