This ruling by the California Supreme Court allows gay marriages in that state simply because the Court ruled that the law designating marriage as between one man and one woman violates the state Constitution.
While we all may have our different opinions about homosexuality and those who pursue different agendas, how will this ruling directly impact your life or the lives of Christians in general? Why is this a "major" issue which distracts us from preaching the Gospel to a lost and dying world and leaves the impression among homosexuals that the Church is just a bunch of self-righteous, judgmental finger-pointers?
I, for one, believe homosexuality is a sin and those who practice it have something to answer for, but I also believe that our mission is to reach them with the Good News of Salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ, not to get all up in arms over their sins while ignoring our own. How does our outrage over the California court ruling advance the cause of Christ if it drives homosexuals away from Salvation?
Which is more important to us as a body of believers? To reach sinners or to position ourselves on the "right" side of today's political issues?
